Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!!!!!!! Downhill Experience

Dit is het dan: Kerstmis 2006. Net tien uur 's morgens geweest en in niets zie ik het verschil met gisteren. Terwijl het nu toch een heel andere dag is. Wat verwacht ik dan? Trompetgeschal? Engelen die zomaar uit de hemel neerdalen met zoetgevooisde stemmen? De tonen van stilte door de sneeuw die alle geluid dempt als een zachte witte deken? Ha! Er zit zelfs geen spoortje ijs op de voorruit van de auto en op de televisie staat zoals gewoonlijk Spongebob weer eens te schateren. Vanmiddag komt mijn familie naar ons toe en we zullen er zeker een gezellige dag van maken. Dus maar gewoon over tot de orde van de dag nu. Nu het nog kan. Hieronder mijn nieuwste kits. Wintersport. Er was nog bijna niets voor. Ik weet dat ik er toch heel wat mensen blij mee zal kunnen maken. Oké, sneeuwpoppen kits zijn ook leuk, maar daar ben je er natuurlijk niet mee. Een echte wintersport kit heeft iets meer nodig...

(Eng.) So this is it: Christmas 2006. Just after 10 am and I don't see any difference with yesterday. Though this has to be a whole different day. What did I expect? Blast of trumpets? Angels coming down from heaven with sweet sounding voices? The sound of the silence covering all the rustling of the normal days and muffle the world with a brad new blanket of snow? Ha! There isn't even the slightest piece of ice on the window shield of the car and on television I hear the loud laugh of Spongebob like every day. This afternoon my family will visit us and we will surely have a fabulous day. But for now I have to do the normal things. Like showing my newest kit. Wintersports. There wasn't really something like this uptill now. I know that I'm making a lot of people happy with it. Okay, Snow dolls are funny, but it's not really the same. A real wintersport kit needs a little more...

China Town NY

Mijn nieuwste kit: China Town NY. Even een uitleg: Je hebt beslist geen foto's uit China nodig om deze kit te kunnen gebruiken, zoals sommigen schenen te denken. Gewoon lekker spelen met je vrolijkste foto's kan gauw. Ik vond het een enig thema om mee bezig te zijn. Lekker veel kettinkjes en vrolijke bloemen, achtergronden die vrolijk van kleur zijn of juist gematigd grijs.

(Eng:)My newest kit: China Town NY. A little explanation: you don't need to go to China for this kit. Simply add your most attractive photo's from yourself, your kids or the cat on! This was a real exciting kit to work on. It contains lots of beads and charms, many flower overlays and can be very colorful, or simple plain grey....

De 'I Lov You'kits zijn nu te koop/I Love You kits now for sale!

Ik heb altijd een goed gevoel als het zover is dat een kit die ik gemaakt heb goed en wel in de shop is! Hoewel ik er met heel veel plezier aan heb gewerkt, ben ik blij dat de klus nu geklaard is, want er kwam heel veel bij kijken. Niet alleen moet je zo'n kit tot in de puntjes verzorgen, alles checken en nog eens checken, alle bestanden bij elkaar zetten en previews, contactsheets (kleine plaatjes van de files die in de kit zitten) en close-ups erbij maken (er gaat ook nog veel tijd zitten in het maken daarvan), maar dan moet alles nog tot zipfiles gemaakt worden, er moet een zng. 'Terms Of Use' bij alle producten komen en er moet dan ook nog een productomschrijving bij komen, waarin van alles over de kit staat. Die dingen, die na het maken van de kit allemaal moeten gebeuren, die mogen van mij allemaal achterwege blijven.

Vandaar dat ik soms snel daarna weer wil overgaan tot het echte werk: het maken van de volgende kit. Vandaar dat ik nu eens vergeten ben om dit te publiceren...

(Eng:) It's always a good feeling when a kit is all finished and is for sale in the shop! Especially when you think about everything that I still have to do before I can show it and put it for sale. Making previews, closeups and zipping it all to uload, are parts that consume lots of time. Then the description have to be made and my TOU must be added. So when everything is finished, I really look forward to make another kit! That's why I simply forgot to put this draft to the blog....

Het is jammer dat twee van mijn CT leden ermee zijn gestopt: Megan en Adee. Dank jullie wel voor de prachtige lay-outs die jullie met mijn kits maakten, dames! Ik zie jullie niet graag vertrekken...
Gelukkig hebben we inmiddels twee nieuwe - heel goede - CT'ers ! Hierboven van allebei een prachtige layout met mijn nieuwe 'I love you' kit. Ingeborg en Fabella: welkom in het CT!

It's sad out CT had to say goodbye to two very good CT members: Megan and Adee. Thanks for all your great layouts you both made with my kits in the past ladies! Don't like to see you go...

I Love You

Het werd weer eens tijd voor iets nieuws.... De donkere dagen voor kerst. Geen sneeuw op de straten, maar bomen die in bloei staan, vlinders die zich nog niet in rusttoestand bevinden, maar vrolijk rondfladderen alsof het half september is. Je kunt geen peil meer trekken op het weer. De sneeuwkit heb ik dus maar even in het vriesvak gezet. Hierboven mijn nieuwe kit. Komt in de store van SBE op zondag 3 december. Een echte foto-kit voor iedereen waarvan je houdt, voor elk portretje en zeer geschikt om eens te experimenteren met zwart-wit foto's of in warme sepiatinten.

(Eng.) It was time for something different... The dark days before Christmas. No snow in the streets, but blooming trees, butterflies that don't hide for the cold days but flitter from flower to flower as if it still was September. So I decided to keep the snow kits in the freezer. Above my new kit, available at the store of SBE on sunday the 3rd of December. A real photo kit for the one(s) you love, for all your portraits, and very suitable to experiment with some black&white photo's, sepia's and monochromes.

Blooming Winter Garden

Ik heb altijd iets met winterbloeiers. Het is een van die kleine lichtpuntjes die ik in de winter lijk nodig te hebben. Een van de mooiste soorten winterbloemen die ik ken is de helleborus. Ik zag laatst in een tijschrift foto's van een heleboel van deze bloemen/planten en ze hebben echt deze kleuren.

I always loved winterflowers. Small points of light in dark winters. One of my favorite sorts are the helleborus (don't know the English name, but this is the Latin name as well) This was the inspiration for these Blooming Winter Garden kits. Christmas Promise

Heb je ook het gevoel dat alles maar doorgaat zo voor en rond de decembermaand? Dat je bijna helemaal doordraait van de voorbereidingen voor de feestdagen? Ik wel. Ik ben eigenlijk al jaren helemaal niet meer zo dol op al die feestelijkheden. Dat heeft niet alleen maar te maken met twee heel bijzondere mensen die er nu niet meer bij zijn, maar ook - en vooral - aan al die opgelegde drammerigheid van de commercie. En van mensen die elkaar proberen te overtroeven met steeds meer en grotere cadeau's. Kinderen die het ene na het andere electrische apparaat na het andere krijgen en alleen nog maar meer willen hebben. Vinden we het gek dat onze jeugd alleen nog maar oog hebben voor mobieltjes, computers, gameboys, Playstation en electrisch bestuurbare auto's? Vinden we het gek dat ze zo verwend doen en alleen nog maar pruilen of huilen als ze het goede merk niet hebben gekregen? Meestal steek ik niet zulke lange preken af op dit blog, maar dit moet me toch echt even van het hart.
Natuurlijk, ik doe er zelf ook aan mee, aan de commercie, want niet alleen verkoop ik kits, maar ik voelde me wel een beetje gedwongen ook met een goede kerstkit te komen. Het gaf me echt veel gemengde gevoelens toen ik aan deze kit begon. Wat boeit me nou aan Kerst, vroeg ik me af. Het kostte me hoofdbrekens. Moest ik de zoveelste zijn die een kit met bomen en ballen en misschien een kerstman en cadeautjes aan de man (vrouw) zou moeten brengen? Wat was het vroeger toch anders... toen de gezelligheid en het samenzijn nog voorop stond. Fijn samen onder de kerstboom spelletjes doen en liedjes zingen met een warme kop chocolademelk en een klein kerstkransje erbij. Buiten sneeuwde het en binnen brandde de haard. Ineens besefte ik wat ik met mijn kerstkit wilde doen.

(Eng:) Do you have the same feeling about Christmas? That everything seems to turn upside down in December? That you seem to overload yourself with preparations for Christmas year after year? Well, I do. I'm not a big fan of Christmas anymore nowadays. It's not only because there are two very dear people are not with us anymore, but also - and above all - the the obtrusivity of the commerce. And of people, scoring off each other with more and bigger presents. Children getting the one electrical machine after the other- and they only want more, cause we buy more. Do we think it's strange that our youth can only focus on GSM, pc's, gameboys, Playstation, and remote controlled cars? Do we think it's strange that our youth is spoiled and cry because the didn't get the right brand name on it? I don't usually give a speech as this on my blog, but this is what I really wanted to share with you.
Of course I also walk in that jogtrot. Not only by selling kits, but I felt obligated to make a Christmas kit also... Beginnig this kit I had a hard time and mixed feelings for long. So I started to ask myself the question what I DO like about Christmas. Did I have to be the so maniest that came up with a kit with bulbs, ornaments, Santa, and presents? What made me feel better when I still liked Christmas? And then I started to think about the good old days, when we sat under the Christmas tree, drinking hot chocolate, singing songs and playing board games. Outside it always snowed and inside the fire place was burning. And at that moment I realized what I wanted to do with my Christmas kit...

Ik kan meestal nauwelijks wachten totdat een bepaalde kit van me in de shop ligt, maar komende zondag, 12 november, ben ik wel erg zenuwachtig. Niet alleen komt dan mijn Kerstkit 'Christmas Promise' uit, maar ook deze 'Tribute to Gaudí'. Gaudí heeft mij altijd geïnspireerd en ik ben ontzettend trots dat ik jullie deze kits nu mag laten zien. (Eng:) Every time a new kit of me is going to be released in a shop, I can hardly wait, but this time (Sunday the 12 November), I am extra nervous. Not only my Christmas kit 'Christmas Promise' will come out then, but also this 'Tribute to Gaudí'. Digitale Shakerbox/Digital Shakerbox

Voor de tweede keer kom ik met een shakerbox. Deze keer zitten er 260 metalen voorwerpjes in, zwaar gecoat. Van labels tot paperclips, van sterretjes tot hartjes en blaadjes. Altijd makkelijk om bij de hand te hebben. Ik heb 'm extra laag geprijsd: $2,00 voor de hele mikmak.

(Eng.): For the second time I come with a digital shakerbox. This time it contains 260 metal shapes, heavy coated in several colors. From label to paperclip, from stars to hearts and little leaves. Always handy to have. I priced this little side-kit extra low: $2,00 for everything.

Ik ben enorm van Lindos gaan houden. Oké, het is ontzettend toeristisch en als je het pad naar beneden neemt, moet je stevige schoenen aan hebben of je de spanning de baas kunnen en toch met de ezel naar beneden gaan. Heavy Duty

Ik ben net terug uit Friesland. Even lekker ertussenuit geweest. Het was dus maar afwachten hoe mijn nieuwe kits 'Heavy Duty' het zouden doen in de store bij SBE... Maar zo te zien is ie al een aantal keer verkocht, dus ik heb er niet zo'n hard hoofd meer in. Ik vond het namelijk wel leuk om te doen, maar niet helemaal in mijn stijl, die het meestal moet hebben van de kleurigheid. Gelukkig lees ik alleen maar positieve reacties, dus het zal allemaal wel loslopen. Per slot van rekening is het wel allemaal in mijn 'handschrift' getekend...

(Eng:) Just went back from Friesland. Great to be gone for a few days. But I was so anxious about what happened around the new 'Heavy Duty' kits in the SBE store, that I came back a little earlier than planned. It's not that I don't like this kit, but I am still wondering if it is my style... However, I so far only read possitive feedback, so I think it will be okay. And I admit, it has my own 'handwrinting' in it....

Ik ben een beetje aan het freestylen gegaan. Daar kan ik me echt uren mee vermaken. Gelukkig doe ik het voor mijn werk, anders had ik me vandaag wel heel schuldig gevoeld. Nou ja, toen Laila's lay-out af was, wilde Noah er natuurlijk ook zo een!

(Eng:) I was a little bit freestyling today. I can fill hours with this. Luckily it is my job, otherwise I had to feel guilty today. When I finished Laila's LO, of course Noah wanted one like that too!

Vanaf vandaag in de SBE store/Today in the SBE store: Berna's 1001 Nights

1001 Nights, oftewel 1001 nachten, is een thema dat wel altijd door mijn hoofd zal blijven spoken. Het klinkt sprookjesachtig natuurlijk, maar ook zeer romantisch. Het roept bij mij een gevoel, een belofte van schoonheid en oude gratie op, iets oosters, iets spannend ook. Dit gevoel heb ik proberen te vertalen naar een collectie achtergronden en elementen. Ik hoop dat jullie dit ook zo voelen.
(Eng:) 1001 Nights is a theme that's always in my head. It sounds like fairytales, of course, but also very romantic. To me it keeps the promise of beauty and old grace, something oriental, excitement. This feeling I tried to translate to a collection of backgrounds and elements. I hope you will get the same feeling seeing them.

En natuurlijk heb ik al een paar lay-outs gemaakt met foto's die ik nog had. Gelukkig heb ik mijn camera weer terug en kan ik nieuwe foto's maken. Het ding was een maand weg, en dat vond ik verschrikkelijk... Gelukkig vond ik deze prachtige foto van Judith nog in mijn archieven. En de oude zwartwitfoto van ons gezin in ongeveer 1968, doet voor de zoveelste maal dienst, maar is altijd weer makkelijk om achter de hand te hebben.
(Eng:) And of course I already made a few layouts with photo's I still had in the archives. Fortunately I have my camera back, that was gone for a month for reparation. This old b/w photo and especially the picture of Judith, my sister sister-in-law, were great for the 1001 Nights kits though.

Wow! Mijn CT!!!!/Wow, my CT!!!!

Eindelijk! De officiële presentatie van mijn CT. Ik ben geen type dat graag opdrachten geeft: creatieve mensen weten donders goed wat ze willen maken! Maar voor deze presentatie heb ik toch elk lid van ons team een 'Alles-Over-Mij', oftewel een 'All-About-Me' lay-out laten maken. Natuurlijk wel met mijn nieuwe kits!
